When Threatened, hide behind a dead Tilapia.  Snowy Plover, Salton Sea.

I believe Dunlin is a TPAD first.  Also the Salton Sea.

Nada Mucho

Espanol.  It's pretty cool.  Right now it is muy tarde.  I shoulda done my TPADing much earlier, but I was hecka busy.  Birding.  Anyhoo, here are the photos from yesterday.  I'm going to bed.

A Snowy Plover at Crissy Field.  I only just discovered where they have been keeping all these guys.  Gray White/Yellow Yellow.  Pretty cute.

Red-winged Blackbird.  Also at Crissy.  I think he looks like he's flexing.  Tuff.

Snow on SEFI

The last day of August turned out to be a fairly productive one.  An egret and a plover were seen who both had the same first name (Snowy).  We were all hoping for a third Snowy bird, but were not so lucky.  

SEFI hosted the sixth Snowy Plover ever recorded on our shores yesterday.  Even more surprising was to find that it was color-banded.  A few e-mail inquiries to Snowy Plover biologists revealed that the bird hatched this year at the Salinas River mouth.  Hopefully he enjoys his stay out here and is able to return to the mainland.
