It Is Raining Outside

Bird of the Day was Brewer's Sparrow.  My first for the Island.  It was hanging out with a Palm Warbler all day.  Then, on a different part of the Island, I found a Clay-colored Sparrow that had also befriended a Palm Warbler.  Apparently Spizella love Palm Warblers.  Cute.  I expect more arguments against the second bird being a Clay-colored.  I would appreciate that.  Also of note yesterday were a Least Flycatcher and FOF Short-eared Owl.

Yesterday was mostly slow.  Super foggy.  A few warblers still cruising around.  Nothing crazy.  Then while I was fixing dinner, Matt found a Painted Bunting on Corm Blind Hill.  I ran outside and finally got on it after about an hour, just as it was getting dark.  No usable photos of the thing, but hopefully it is out there right now and I can go snap a few off for tomorrow's TPAD.  Here's some marginal stuff in the meantime.  This morning looks very promising, by the way.  Could be a Mega Wave.  Keep fingers crossed for Asian Goodnes.

So I am finally getting my own camera charged back up today after a few weeks without a battery charger.  Hopefully these are the last retro photos for a while.

This is a clay-colored sparrow found on the Farallones thursday.  One of the only vagrants so far this season.  Many more to come soon...
